Decking/gazebo project

On the 19th February, Duxford PC gave the go-ahead for an ambitious new development proposal, adjacent to the existing clubhouse building.

It is planned to install a 50sq m deck on which will be sited two 4.6 x 4m timber framed gazebos end to end, providing a covered area of around 37sq m.  This space has long been used as a dumping ground for slabs, pallets, old chairs, etc. and the time has come to make these changes.

This has come about mainly due to the generosity of Peter McDonald, past President and long-time member and servant of Duxford Bowls Club, who last year donated £10k in order to see (in his words) the Club "thrive and prosper".  The Committee discussed various options, and this seemed to be the most appropriate to fulfill Peter's ambitions.

Work has started on site clearance, and groundworks will get underway very soon.  Even with Peter's donation, this will only happen if everyone in the Club lends their support, and the objective will be to have the facility ready for the start of the new season.  We will keep you posted on progess, so watch this page and if you feel you can lend a hand please contact anybody on the Duxford Bowls Club committee.
